More awesomeness

I don’t know what this is from, or why they look so young and yet the image quality is so high. Can anyone enlighten me?

“Back to School” awesomeness

Caroline and I watched Back to School last night, a perennial favorite from our youth. CuteNot only is this movie funny, it also features the adorable Robert Downey, Jr. in an amusing role as a college socialist. He is a good source of funny 80s trends and choice dialog such as: “Violent ground acquisition games such as football are in fact a crypto-fascist metaphor for nuclear war.” Cute.

Another good part of the movie is when the teacher recites a bit of prose from James Joyce’s Ulysses.

I’m sure we all remember the scene:“…I was a Flower of the mountain yes when I put the rose in my hair like the Andalusian girls used or shall I wear a red yes and how he kissed me under the Moorish wall and I thought well as well him as another and then I asked him with my eyes to ask again yes and then he asked me would I yes to say yes my mountain flower and first I put my arms around him yes and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will Yes..”

Sally KellermanPerhaps not as awesome, depending on your point of view, were all the topless shots of that woman that came up in my Google image search for that pic. Anyway, that’s actually a pretty good quote, just more evidence that whoever actually wrote this movie was an unsung genius. Another great thing about this movie is Danny Elfman, who does the music for the Simpsons and all the Tim Burton films, including PeeWee, and is pretty damn good. He’s the singer from Oingo Boingo in this movie. There are many LOLz to be had watching him sing “It’s a dead man’s party…” in the dorm party scene.

We had a good time. I am going to miss these movie nights with Caroline!~~

Happy Father’s Day

So, I was supposed to post a video of Caroline and me wishing Dad a Happy Father’s Day. Unfortunately, Caroline didn’t feel like making the video, and I suppose we just lost steam with the project. I will post a nice vid here soon. For good old Dad.

Suffice it to say that I feel happier than I did when I wrote the last post. I’m excited about my move. I like change, I always have. So, wish me the best of luck and I really just hope things come together for me in the next few months. :)

Oohh..by the way, the 5K was wonderful. Thank you to everyone who offered me support and to Mom who gave a nice donation to the Humane Society. There were so many cute dogs there. I ran the 5K in 32 minutes, which made me 92nd out of 197 runners. Not bad. When you consider I spent the first half of my life lying on a sofa reading (which I still do a lot, don’t worry!). Anyway, I will post pictures from the race very soon.

5K for Animals!

Mt. Tabor Doggie Challenge RunI am really excited to be taking part in a 5K run for charity on June 14. It’s at Mt. Tabor park, which is a really beautiful park about a half a mile from my house. The Oregon Humane Society will be the beneficiary.

I welcome your support, whether it be wishing me luck or making a donation. If you want to do either, get in touch with me! Everyone who knows me knows I’m crazy about animals, and this is such a fun way to help out. Afterwards, there is going to be beer (this IS Portland after all!), music and food. People are going to be bringing their dogs, although the dogs will not be racing. Too bad eh!

Yay! Wish you could all be there…

C is for Cody

So, did you ever notice how a lot of people start blogs, then rarely go on to update them? Hmm…

Well, to sate your appetites for all things “Cody,” here is a video. This sums me up in a nutshell (emphasis on the “nut”). Very little has changed since the days I was dubbed “Cookie Monster.”
